Welcome to
Arts Language Music Academy

Sparking curiosity and creativity, we develop children's essential life and academic skills.

Art, language, music, and play make learning come alive at A.L.M.A.!

Arts, Language, and Music are our tenets for learning at A.L.M.A.
By blending the best of Montessori, Reggio-Emilia and play based philosophies, our environment encourages
creativity, collaboration, compassion, and community.

Intentional play opens the child’s minds to endless possibilities.
The school’s beautiful green space fosters a deep connection with nature.

Early practical life, literacy, math, science and cultural lessons enrich future academics. Our innovative approach nourishes the child’s
emotional, social, cognitive, and creative growth.

Why A.L.M.A. ?

  • Small Community & Close Relationships

    • We keep class sizes small so that we can offer your child lots of one-on-one attention. This enables us to build strong, trusting relationships that facilitate deep learning and social-emotional development

    • Our school feels like a second home. That feeling of safety allows your child to be comfortable trying new things, challenging themselves, making mistakes as they learn, and communicating their feelings and needs.

    • We model intentional community building and help your child develop empathy, and strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

    • When we communicate with children and parents, we utilize the Nonviolent Communication method with an emphasis on deep listening, empathy, and compassion.
  • Individualized Best-Practices Instruction

    • We use a best practices approach with lots of hands-on, experiential learning.

    • We tailor our teaching to your child’s interests and strengths, which makes learning easier, more fun and impactful.

    • With our individualized curriculum and mixed-age classroom, your child can move forward in areas of aptitude or work longer in areas of challenge without feeling “ahead” or “behind.”

    • We use highly engaging real-world projects to solidify students’ understanding of core concepts and nurture the development of their cognitive, physical, social-emotional, linguistic, and creative skills.

  • Arts, Language & Music Galore

    • We use open-ended, process-focused art to encourage your child’s natural curiosity and creativity.

    • We cultivate cultural explorations to celebrate diversity and increase global awareness, setting your child up to be a respectful citizen of the world.

    • We make music throughout our entire day, offering your child plentiful opportunities for joyful self-expression and creation.

    • We incorporate art and music cross-curricularly into all parts of our every day rather than isolating them in limited weekly “enrichment” times.

  • Purposeful Play Every Day

    • We love play! Lots of play makes learning fun, which means your child loves learning and is excited to go to school every day.

    • Imaginative play invites your child to develop their self-awareness and expand their self-concept.

    • Open-ended play gives your child the opportunity to co-create with others while developing communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Nature-Based Learning & Play

    • We spend lots of time outside, during all seasons and weather, and for all kinds of activities! All of this time playing in, tending to, and connecting with nature fosters a strong relationship between your child and the natural world.

    • We love our student-run garden! Planning, planting, tending, harvesting, preparing, and eating their own food helps your child understand the interconnected cycles of life and fosters a sense of stewardship for the planet.
