Summer Camp
Summer Camp
Program Overview
At A.L.M.A. Summer Camp, adventure is always around the corner! Our campers love being outdoors, whether they’re gardening, swimming, climbing, biking, or making culinary creations in our mud kitchen. We follow their passions with spontaneous lessons in culture, language, STEM, art, and music.
Campers take the lead on exciting real-world projects like organizing lemonade stand fundraisers and making their own A.L.M.A. movies. From writing scripts and designing costumes to filming and editing, they do it all—and return each year with even more incredible ideas!
Field Trips!
We love taking our older campers (ages 8-12) on field trips! The children get to extend their learning through fun, new experiences, building independence, responsibility, leadership, and practical life skills as they go. Examples of past field trips include theater performances, the Shedd Aquarium, shopping trips for project supplies, an escape room, trampoline parks, and local park.
Counselors in Training
Counselors in Training is our internship program for alumni who are ready to level up from full-time camper to part-time counselor. Our Counselors in Training gain valuable real-world experience in a familiar, nurturing environment — all while still having lots of fun! They help teachers plan, prepare, and implement morning games, activities, and meals. They even get to help plan and present field trips! Their responsibilities are part-time, so they get to enjoy lots of recreational time, too.
Older children are invited to apply for the Counselors in Training program based on our observations of readiness in areas such as independence, self-regulation, and communication.

New Families — Let’s Connect!
We love to meet new families before the first day of camp. If we haven’t already chatted on the phone or given you a tour, please use the link in your confirmation email to schedule a quick introductory phone call.
*Please note that in order to complete registration as a few family, you will need to fill out several DCFS forms, including a recent health exam from your child’s doctor and a copy of your child’s birth certificate. A.L.M.A. is a DCFS-licensed facility, which requires that all children have this paperwork on file before attending camp.
